Position Description:
This position reports to the Manager, Risk Governance & Operations in the Enterprise & Operational Risk Management Department, the role is responsible for the implementation, administration and reporting of  First Citizens Bank’s (FCB) internal Corporate Governance (ICG) Framework. This role will provide applicable program documentation (e.g., frameworks, policies and standards), and day-to-day management of the FCB’s internal governance processes (e.g., Policy and Committee governance).  Acts as the subject matter expert for these governance documents and governance groups and identify strategies and opportunities to improve program and process maturity levels and ensuring the consistent application of risk principles and regulations.  This position also has accountability as the recording secretary for the Operational Risk Committee, the Enterprise Risk Oversight Committee and the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors, and for analyzing risks across risk disciplines within Enterprise Risk Management and assist senior management in managing those risks.  Employs in-depth knowledge as a generalist or specialist of enterprise risk management techniques, practices and procedures, various banking regulatory requirements and processes.  Excellent management and project management skills.  Works with various regulators for continuous monitoring and exam management, business unit/corporate and enterprise-wide business support groups to manage with cross-functional level issues associated with risk.  This role is responsible for maintaining influential relationships with Senior Management across the Three Lines of Defense and providing support for Management and Board Committees (e.g.,  Operational Risk Committee, Board Risk Committee, etc.) as directed. Maintains effective and productive external relationships.  Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree, with a minimum of 6 years financial services experience, in enterprise risk management, compliance, audit, finance or accounting.
Master degree with a minimum of 5 years financial services experience, in enterprise risk management, compliance, audit, finance or accounting.

Additional Requirements:
Functions as the subject matter expert for the group.  Expert knowledge of risk techniques and practices.  Advanced knowledge of various bank/government regulatory requirements and processes.  Ability to work with associates, senior management and various management and board risk committees.  Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.  Exceptional organization, analysis, decision making and problem resolution skills.  Must be able to meet deadlines.  Ability to supervise, lead and train other risk officers.  Works on complex problems and provides solutions that are highly creative.  Uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives.  
Working knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise risk and operational risk (e.g. FDIC, OCC, FRB, CFPB, etc.)
Ability to identify and develop solutions for new/updated regulatory guidance
Working knowledge of Risk Control Frameworks (e.g., COSO, Basel etc.)
Requires an in-depth knowledge of related fields and the ability to apply this information to the role
Advanced PC Skills including Microsoft Visio, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to leverage relationship management capabilities and demonstrate solid problem solving skills
Ability to impact and influence stakeholders
Excellent communication skills
Ability to effectively manage, motivate and lead assigned personnel to willingly achieve desired results.
